Happy Ostara or Spring Equinox. The time of the year where daylight and the dark are in equal balance and after today, the hours of light will be greater than those of darkness. It is a time to celebrate new beginnings, growth and fertility. The celebration of this day has its roots in various cultures with one of the most prominent influences coming from the Anglo-Saxon and Germanic cultures who celebrated a Goddess called Eostre (yes … this is where we get the word Easter) who represented fertility and the return of life. Celebrate this glorious day by taking a walk outside and observing the new signs of life everywhere (buds on trees, early bees and spring flowers like daffodils and crocuses). Breathe in the warming air and give thanks that we have made it through the winter again 🌼

From the dark winter of sleep, the sun wakes up

With the bursting of bud and yellow buttercup

The shadows are chased, the wheel has spun

Give blessings to Eostre for Spring has begun
